Bob Verne
Bob has been involved in various aspects of woodworking in one way or another for much of his adult life. He began when his children gave him a small lathe for Father’s Day about 20 years ago. That was all it took to get him hooked on the challenge and satisfaction of creating functional and artistic natural wood turnings.
Having progressed from relatively simple craft items to more elaborate bowls, hollow forms and platters, his latest focus is on utilizing the natural features and characteristics of various woods to develop elegant forms based on classical design principles. Although woodturning has been primarily a hobby for him, Bob has been more recently moving to sell some of his turnings through galleries and craft outlets. His work is in several private collections and local galleries. He has demonstrated at area venues and at his woodturning club.
Bob lives in Chapel Hill, NC, and is a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Chapel Hill Woodturners.
